Its been a learning process with these feet. Its no big deal they say..... its temporary they say. But till we get to that point which I keep reading about, is probably a few years process. I will be so happy when we get to the point were we are just wearing these things at night from which from what I read is a few years too so it doesn't come back.
I know he's got a mild case so it might not be that long....we will see.
Till then living with this "boots and bar" as they call it, can be challenging. He's suppose to have them on 23/7. (although the doctor said it was okay if he was at events or other things going on he could have them off longer) There's a chance he will have to have his Achilles tendon clipped and that sounds like its a procedure they do in the office to help lengthen the heel cord. Then I guess they would cast him again till it heeled.
They also have another bar when he gets bigger called the Dobbs bar and it gives him movement to kick and when he wants to crawl. It also has a way to disconnect in the middle without taking the screws off like this brace. Right now has to grow more to get it. He should be growing out of this one by the end of the month. They go by shoulder length .
It sucks having clothes that there's no way he can use. a carrier that is hard to use and that bar. He kicks now when he's not happy. The bar is metal, even just the bar rubbing isn't comfortable.
Decided to get something for the bar. These are covers for restraint straps for the car seat. In my honest opinion I thought these were the dumbest thing for that purpose. They spit up all the time and by the time they don't they are eating, sticking things on them and taking them off. However they work great for the bar. They are soft enough to protect from kicking and easy enough to put them on
