Ringing in the New Year.....

So at 11:11 I decided.... what the hell you only live once and can't keep promising Andrew one of these days we will go downtown and watch the ball drop when I have the perfect night. The weather was great and Alex wanted to see....

MINUS the fact we are still living the pandemic life and its spreading like wildfire.... 

We are  all completely vaccinated at this point and we wore masks. 

SO ... Lets do this with half of Buffalo.....

New Years Eve

 

Reflecting on the year.....

 

It was the best of times and it was the worst of time.

I remember picking up this shirt at the end of 2020 and thinking there is nothing good that is going to come out of 2021.  He did wear it last  New Years Eve  and that's it.

How could even begin to be the best year ever when going into Jan was going to suck.  Feb trip to Florida was already cancelled and there wasn't much to look forward to at all..... 

But then 2021 had a few very pleasant surprises.....

 Now that the year is ending I will say it wasn't the best year ever although that has been Alex's motto that just about everyday we do something fun is the best day ever so it adds up. At least to him

But here are a few of why 2021 didn't suck rocks like I thought it would.

The Bills almost made it to the Superbowl.  One game short. Big happy surprise and lots of fun and excitement.

We took a trip to NYC.  Pandemic NYC rocked.  Not as crowded. Subways clean and Andrew FINALLY got to see the Statue of Liberty that he's been begging me for years to see.

The Blue Jays came back to Buffalo  and could have fans.  Andrew who again was begging me to see a 

MLB game got to see 2  and one with grandpa vs the YANKEES. 

I finally got a bunch of work done on the house that I have been wanting to do for years :new front window, new screen door, basement redone, new garage door, electric panel replaced. 

For a year I was sure was going to suck completely it did all right .

Beleive me there was suck this year and alot of it..... but I'm choosing to focus on the good stuff that happened this year and some of it as a result of  the pandemic. 

How its going so far...... Yeah it's bad. They keep upping the levels of hell with this thing.   Vaccinated, boosted,,,  different variates,   

In Jan 2021 there were 400,000 deaths.... there are over 800,000 deaths from it... 

Ithaca Trip

The breakfast they made you put on gloves to get you goodies and then you could take them off.  Of course had to wear a mask in the hotel. 

Alex had a swim in the morning before we left.  The lights weren't on when we started.   The tea set was from the little girl he was playing with last night.  She left it there I guess. He was hoping she would be there too. They got along great. 

We went to the Children's Garden.  Looked interesting. Should have done this when we came down in Sept but what did I know. Its a cool area

Taghanock Falls... this way was much easier.   We did the outlook this time instead of walking it.

Of course we had to Stop at our favorite tree house and see our favorite little owl.

Remember the days when you could go to a hotel and the biggest worry was if they were doing maintenance on the pool and the odds were that wasn't a problem.   I called to make sure swimming was still a thing.   It was ... NO Problem. 

Considering the state of everything right now..... Glad they didn't shut down the pool
