Rideau Canal

Watching the boat got through the locks.....

I ended going into the museum and talking with one of the people whom works there as I had a few questions  and knew about  the Lockport locks....

There are 8 locks to get into the Rideau  Canal all manual
(Lockport had 5 till they automated it, now its 2)
Asked why they didn't automate it.  Its on the historic register and  they can't change it.
It takes a boat 1.5 to 2 hours to go through all the locks
The boats usually pay $1 per boat footage to go though the locks all day but since its Canada's 150th anniversary , its free.
