Captains Log: Day 259

So its remote learning again and Jonathan is tired of me taking pics. Cuomo had a briefing.  Still waiting to see if he shuts down Erie County.   Still we are in the Orange zone and things aren't looking good.  Even he has the analogy of the Grinch.   Stupid Grinch is trying to steal Christmas and there's some how a lesson in here about being grateful and Christmas will come anyway... blah blah blah.... its a Monday... Ask me when the holiday is here...

So I didn't want to go shopping but needed stuff,,,, online pick up it is.... Kids are in the car watching a movie while he puts the groceries in.

Jon is playing with a Kazoo.... we had to stop at the music store as Jonathan lost his Tuba book.  I asked him why his grade went down in Band... Oh I can't find my book.  How the hell does one lose it when you only go to school 2 times a week and now aren't going any??  When were you going to tell me?
Anyway we got one and they gave Alex a kazoo as well.  Of course they fought over it.

Jonathan the one man band with ukulele and kazoo

Captains Log: Day 256 Improvising.....

So its the day after Thanksgiving and its Black Friday.  I don't really shop on this day anyway but we usually go to the Lancaster Fire Truck Parade and it was a beautiful day if they did. But its 2020 and well we can't do those things.   So we hung out at the park for awhile and I decided to go to the Fatima Shine in Lewiston.   I've been wanting to go there but we were always busy doing other activities.   After we stopped in Niagara Falls and could see their Light Festival across the way..... again would have been a beautiful night to walk across the bridge but can't. Still waiting on my passport and its closed.

Drive Thru Country Christmas Display

So since we really didn't have plans after Thanksgiving dinner I saw this was going on even on Thanksgiving so we went down there and checked it out.  They did a great job and was very fun to see.

Even though we didn't do what we normally would, it is nice to change things up and this was a nice change.

Captains Log: Day 255 Thanksgiving 2020

Well here it is Thanksgiving 2020.  We are only suppose to have 10 people together total.  My County I live in is on the brink of being in the Red Zone which means its back to not being able to do anything again like April.  Only essential businesses. Christmas  season is on us and that means all the usual holiday fun  is cancelled.   Normally after our meal and such we go to the  other family and hang out with them and then come home and check out "Black Friday" deals.   None of the otherside is getting together because of the virus and there is no "Black Friday" sales on Thanksgiving.  They are all closed.   We usually go to Light up Lockport this weekend and the Lancaster Firstruck Christmas Parade...all of it cancelled this year.    We do Jingle Falls and the Giant Gingerbread house with Santa and the Power Vista, all cancelled. We go to Old fashion Chrsitmas in Shelby, NY but don't feel comfortable in doing that this year even though it isn't cancelled.  It could be really easy to feel like the holidays are ruined, like you're now in Whoville and the Grinch stole Christmas from everybody.   And even more disheartening is at the end they are all together singing and you can't even do that because you could catch COVID...

Yet here we are celebrating what we are thankful for......Honestly what I'm thankful for this year and every year.   That everybody is healthy and they are still here and especially going through a pandemic.   That I have enough food and have housing.   Really everything after that is a bonus.  Like really good Thanksgiving dinner too.   Oh and not having 2 houses any more!!
