Captains Log: Day 409 Rainy Day

It was a rainy day so we stuck around the house and watched Disney Movies. Finally got to watch Frozen 2 and he watched Inside and Out.  Andrew was ready for the NFL draft.

Alex did play outside

We went to the Podiatrist to get his new orthotists and I guess the packaging got damaged by fedex and they had to do another......  Sigh... This has been a journey with the braces...

Anyway....after school I took him to the park.   Andrew had zoom group session and Jonathan was busy with his friends after school so it was Alex and I hanging out....

At least most of the people were wearing masks here... 

They changed the guidelines for people vaccinated and to be quite honest...I sort have been doing it anyway.  If we are outdoors I don't wear a mask but near others I do.  At the playground I can stay far enough away not to wear one.  Its been 3 months since I have been fully vaccinated. I don't like anybody else feeling uncomfortable if I don't wear a mask.  I also feel like I'm being a jerk if I don't.  How does anybody know you have been vaccinated or you are pretending to be...

 

Captains Log: Day 407 Garrison Park

Stoppped at Dairy Queen for some ice cream and then went to Garrison Park. We haven't been there in almost a year and a half.    Playgrounds were closed  till June and the wadding pool was closed last summer. 

 Alex likes pretending he's the Statue of Liberty.   I think that was his very favorite thing we did in NYC.  

Captains Log : day 406 Back to SCHOOL FULL TIME!!!!!

Woo Hoo!!! Little did I know back on March 16, 2020 that I would be waiting this long for him to go back to school full time. It seemed impossible at thiat time that it would be that long and probably a good thing we didn't know.  I think they mentioned people staying home for over a year to work from home and it seemed impossible yet here we are Apr 26, 2021 and they are finally goign back full time.   Now since this is when it began do I take the label off of Captains Log??? 

It has been swirling around in my head to say its over .....   as I drove down the 33 and the signs are still saying Covid is still a risk. As we go into the stores wearing masks, its mandatory... its still around us. 

We are wanting normalcy as this isn't normal. 

The Oscars last night weren't normal.  I still don't know how they even had a show when the movie theaters weren't open most of the year and for the most part still  aren't. Most everything were on streaming sservices.  

So keeping Captains Log...

He's pretending to be the Statue of Liberty....I thik of all the things we did in NYC the Statue of Liberty we by far his favorite. 

This is a funny story.... I have been reading him the book I love yyou forever before bed and at the end he doesn't quite get that the mommy gets old and the boy had a baby... I said mommy was little once too.   I show him a picture of me with all my stuffed animals like he likes to do when goign to bed.   He sees I have a stuffed Donald duck...   He had one too.  He asks Why is your bigger than mine???  I don't know it just is.   Grandma like you better???   

This kid LOL. I guess so..I told him.

Captains Log: Day 403 Buffalo Zoo

So Andrew had an Apointment at the Endocrinologist and Alex had a half day of school. So we went to the Buffalo Zoo.   Had to reserve inadvance.

Jonathan was at school and really today moving forward he is returning to full in person school as of Monday..... 

Here I am again contiplating getting rid of the Captains log as they are going back to school full time next week since I started it from there.... 

403 days...  never in my wildest dreams would any of us think it would take that long for them to go back full time.  When this happened I remember lying on the couch with a headache.thinking how long can this last???   How can we get back to normal?   We can't buy groceries and hang in the house all the time with nothing being open.  School was such a huge undertaking to close and its been a huge undertaking to reopen.  Over a year......

We know the pandemic is not over.  We know we still got a ways to go. However unlike last year.... we have light at the end of this tunnel. 

We did enjoy the Buffalo Zoo and to think last time this year we could only walk around the zoo as it was closed...
