Captains Log: Day 200 of Living with the Plague

200 days have gone by since is affected our lives. The numer is from the 1st day school was shut down.  Unlike in Aprl when it was 40 days and I had the sign for Quarentine we are now dealing with it in many ways we didn't back then. In April nothing was open but grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations and repair places basically. Okay and parks. That was it!  No movies, sports, malls, entertainment, bars, restaurants (only take out), hair salons, gyms. That was pretty much our shelter in place.

Slowly we opened up and to a new normal. Sports are being played and a few night ago Tampa won the Stanley Cup, Basketball is going to their championship, Football is doing okay. We get temperatutre checked everywhere. The kids have a new normal with school.  2 days a week in person and this hybrid thing.  Alex goes full time. Both kids were COVID tested. Going places require reservations and timed tickets. And of course masks everywhere we go. Its no longer weird to us to wear them everywhere as its a daily occurence and they are in the washed like underwear... daily

This year has been such an odd year by October we don't even bat an eye with abnormal stuff. its almost expected at this point. You know like wild fires so bad out west that the sun is glowing bright red at sunrise and sunset.  That there were so many huricanes this year they ended up naming some from the greek alphabet, etc.... and we won't even touch on the politics.

I can't wait till words like Social Distancing, Wear masks. 6 ft apart, Is it open? And Phases. Are a thing of the past.

I heard them talk about making a 2020 time Capsule.  I laughed and called it Pandora's Box...  What does one put in a capsule to fully appreciate this Dystopian Nightmare? Toilet paper? Lysol wipes? Black lives matter mask?  Your Covid results?  Your Zoom meeting codes? A bottle of Tylenol after watching the Presidental debates?? The Covid signs that are all over?   They have printable pages and they make me laugh like what movies are popular during this time... Ummm the 3 movies that you could purchase to watch on streaming TV.  Trolls, Scooby doo and Mulan...

So yeah that is the bad.....

There is some bright spots in this.  It forced me to go to places that I thought about going but didn't before because we were doing whatever event was going on. Like Art Park or Golden Hill State Park , Whirlpool State parkfor example. We got to see more of Grandma and Grandpa and enjoy them. And them with us too as they would be going places.  The kids got to learn about sewing and substituting ingredients for others.  Cooking.

While Alex watched ours of Mickey Mouse Club house I watched videos of our Governor whom went above and beyond to do everything for this state.  Don't usually care for politicians or politics but I know I do like him.

I do miss the festivals, Amusement parks, and the gym (although this is open I'm not taking chances there) .

You got to love the meme's this year...
