Captains Log: Day 255 Thanksgiving 2020

Well here it is Thanksgiving 2020.  We are only suppose to have 10 people together total.  My County I live in is on the brink of being in the Red Zone which means its back to not being able to do anything again like April.  Only essential businesses. Christmas  season is on us and that means all the usual holiday fun  is cancelled.   Normally after our meal and such we go to the  other family and hang out with them and then come home and check out "Black Friday" deals.   None of the otherside is getting together because of the virus and there is no "Black Friday" sales on Thanksgiving.  They are all closed.   We usually go to Light up Lockport this weekend and the Lancaster Firstruck Christmas Parade...all of it cancelled this year.    We do Jingle Falls and the Giant Gingerbread house with Santa and the Power Vista, all cancelled. We go to Old fashion Chrsitmas in Shelby, NY but don't feel comfortable in doing that this year even though it isn't cancelled.  It could be really easy to feel like the holidays are ruined, like you're now in Whoville and the Grinch stole Christmas from everybody.   And even more disheartening is at the end they are all together singing and you can't even do that because you could catch COVID...

Yet here we are celebrating what we are thankful for......Honestly what I'm thankful for this year and every year.   That everybody is healthy and they are still here and especially going through a pandemic.   That I have enough food and have housing.   Really everything after that is a bonus.  Like really good Thanksgiving dinner too.   Oh and not having 2 houses any more!!
